The Cliff House BlogPut Your Hiking Skills to the Test on the Manitou Incline

02 Jul, 2018

Originally built as a cable car to bring materials up to Pikes Peak, this demanding trail gains 2000 feet in elevation and an average grade of 45 percent—though in some places it’s as steep as 68! But when you reach the top of the foothills? You’ll be taking in awe-inspiring views of Colorado Springs and the eastern plains, making the one-mile upwards trek all worth it. As you make your descent, hike down the bottom four miles of the Barr Trail—rangers strongly suggest avoiding downhill use of the Incline. And where will we be? We’ll be safe on the ground. Waiting with a glass of wine just for you!
