There's more than one way to reach the summit of America's Mountain. Sure, you can hike but if you're in a hurry, hit the highway - the Pikes Peak Highway. Its a 19-mile stretch with 156 twists and turns to the 14,115-foot summit, where spectacular views (and very tasty donuts) await. Access the highway in Cascade, just four miles from Manitou Springs, and plan on a total round-trip time of at least two hours; and more if you decide to stay for lunch at the Summit House. The views are nothing sort of breathtaking. Sometimes, quite literally. If you find you're short of breath, drop by the oxygen bar at the Summit House to ease your altitude adjustment.
